Maybe you aren’t charging enough, or is it paying enough
The scrap and recycle business seems to be where the action is according to the Akron, Ohio Police Department.
Akron police said today they have arrested two men — including the member of a family that owns a salvage company — in connection with the theft of downtown landscaping lights.
City officials noticed earlier this month that about 60 landscaping lights — made of bronze and aluminum and worth about $50,000 — were missing from planters in front of the Cascade Plaza on South Main Street.
This isn’t the first I have heard of such incidents. As material prices have increased, so has the desire to profit from them. There is security video footage on the internet of a crew stealing freshly planted miniature palms from the front of a commercial building probably for “resale” at another job.
What happened that this became an acceptable course of business? Are we not charging enough? Are we not paying enough? I’m sure it’s a combination of factors. Whether organic or inorganic, there are people who want to purchase items and people willing to procure them. Now the issues are how to conduct your business knowing that this is occuring? How to supply your clients with options in the new face of business?
