Computers are our friends
Every now and again an opportunity arises where one could choose to take the more difficult but most direct path to the castle of the Goblin King or the path to somewhere else avoiding the Bog of Eternal Stench all-together but not really getting to where you intended in the first place. What does all that mean? Only that I’ve been dealing with a software upgrade (admittedly by my own choice) at my company now for about thirty days, and besides needing to input twice as much data resulting in more keystrokes and higher than normal employee L&I claims of Carpal tunnel syndrome, I can’t do half of the things I liked doing in the old software. Even as I type I can’t avoid accidentally hitTING THE CAPS LOCK BECAUSE I’VE LOST THE DEXTERITY REQURD TU TYYYPE PRPLY. And apparently my spell-check isn’t working either. The good news is that I paid a ton of money for this adventure.
At-any-rate, I’m told that by taking the road of the software upgrade the company will be better off in the long run, but what about my sanity? What about liking work? That has to count for something. My employees and colleagues have, thus far, managed to handle the change with poise and as much productivity as possible. Over-achievers. So far this path sucks. The Bog of Eternal Stench can’t be that bad, right?
